Harry Potter Snubbed At 2012 Oscars

Facebook.com – Become a Fan! Twitter.com – Follow Us! Hi everyone! Thanks so much for checking out the show. I’m your host Dana Ward and this is ClevverTV. As most of you have probably heard, especially all of you movie buffs out there, the 2012 Academy Award nominations are out. And just as the lists got revealed to the public, it had a lot of people talking about snubs. Of course, this happens every single year to some extent and this particular Oscar nod announcement has Harry Potter fans going nuts. Of course, we cannot forget that the final film, the Deathly Hallows Part 2, did earn 3 nominations, in categories including Art Direction, Makeup and Visual Effects — so congratulations for that! But the super surprising exclusion is from the Best Picture category. Keep in mind that the Academy can nominate a maximum of 10 films and for this 2012 round, it only included 9 movies… leaving one spot for HP, right? Well, some people are saying that even though there was a push to be considered for the major movie award show that the Deathly Hallows Part 2 really only had such box office success because of its majorly loyal fanbase. Some critics are also saying that even though it did do relatively good in theatres, as far as comparison to the rest of the nominations in the Best Picture category go, the final Harry Potter film just didn’t measure up. Basically, we want this to be an open forum for you to discuss why it didn’t get a nod for best pic this year. Sound off in

@MelodyMaxW Exactly how many Oscar nominations does Twilight have? Now compare the answer to how many Razzie nominations it has. Your opinion is invalid.

Grr cant there be one twilight, harry potter, or hunger games video without someone mentioning the other two?? they’re all amazing!!! Stop saying ones are better than the other!! please, its disrespectful and rude. they’re all completely different and wonderful in their own way!! stop hating on another franchise just because you are obsessed with another!!

  5. chillaschill Says:

I love Harry Potter, but the likelihood of it being nominated was very slim.

ALAN RICKMAN DESERVES THE OSCAR FOR BEST ACTOR!!!!!

  11. youngwizardboy7 Says:

The reason why it wasn’t nominated is because the Academy deems HP to be too ‘childish’. I’m an HP fan myself, and I never really was expecting a nomination.

  12. Duszka Says:

@ENRIQUE881 I didn’t say they were meaningless now but soon will become just like the MTV awards and people’s choice so eventually it will become meaningless. Again what standards are the Oscars and you using? here is a question for you. Why do people at the Oscars change the rules whenever a questionable movie ends up nominated? Because it’s a clique that tries to prevent originality and hard work. It’s become about who has the money, power and influence not the movies.

  13. ALE280290 Says:

For me, Harry Potter 7.2 is and remains the best picture of the year (tied with the masterpiece The Artist)!

  14. andromeda33 Says:

9 spots for best picture, What The…..?????
they could easily put another spot for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, there have been 10 spots in past years, I mean it’s ok if the picture doesn’t win, just give it a Nomination, Well, I hope it wins in the categories it is nominated, but for the Record, It was the Best Picture of 2011, the numbers can confirm that!!!!!!!

  20. krispygarliclove Says:

who cares about who gets nominated or not? we all know the best movies, right here, in our hearts, don’t we?

  21. TheRolo98 Says:

@ENRIQUE881 Shut Up…LOTR Wer Bad Appadtions Of De Buks Buh Harry Potter Wuz Adapted Reallii Closely Tew De Buk So SHUT UP!!!!

  22. devon1116 Says:

That is the reason why HPP2 didn’t get nominated, because it didn’t measure up? Then how did LOTR get a bunch of Oscars? There were more snubbs than just the big blockbusters, what about DiCaprio for best actor in J. Edgar or even Tintin for best animated feature. This logic to unrespectfully not give a nomination and give all of the true artful films of the year nominations for best picture makes me squeel.

  23. Serdikhan Says:

Over a dozen movies have 90%+ on Rotten Tomatoes, but that doesn’t automatically mean 10 of them will be Best Picture Nominees. War Horse has about 77% on RT, most likely won’t win Best Picture, but at least it was a Best Picture nominee.

  24. Serdikhan Says:

Big deal. The movie after all was Part 2, which makes it incomplete and not standalone film. The only reason this movie made as much money as it did was 100% not what the story or the actors did, but the simple fact in was the FINAL HP movie.

  25. ENRIQUE881 Says:

@theedwardnotcull0 Not, the last one was not Hp.
