Every time a new Harry potter book comes out I’ve read the whole series over again starting with the first one every time. Ever since the 7th book came out I still have yet to read the whole series again. Could I skip the first 3 books and still get what’s going on til the end of the series?

March 16th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
All of them. They suck.
March 16th, 2010 at 4:55 pm

March 16th, 2010 at 5:14 pm
Don’t U dare skip any! LOL. Well I guess U can skip number 2. It’s the worst one
March 16th, 2010 at 5:29 pm

March 16th, 2010 at 6:00 pm

March 16th, 2010 at 6:08 pm

March 16th, 2010 at 7:22 pm
Do you have memory problems?
March 16th, 2010 at 8:02 pm
Sure if you have read the series that many times you should know what happened and what didnt.
March 16th, 2010 at 8:09 pm
They all contain essential parts of the story. I guess chamber of secrets.
March 16th, 2010 at 8:09 pm
Don’t skip any.
They’re perrrfect. <3
March 16th, 2010 at 9:03 pm
Honestly, you can skip 1-3 safely. All three of them aren’t closely linked to the overall plot and don’t contain very much info that’s vital for you to understand the last 4 (which are the best).
March 16th, 2010 at 9:44 pm
Hahaha no. All the books lead up to the ending. If you don’t want to read just watch the movies btw I think the books are better then the movies
March 16th, 2010 at 10:14 pm
dont skip any. you especially have to read them all for the last one.
If you read them all within a week, then you will finish and say,
“WOW! I’m glad that guy on Yahoo! Answers told me to read them all again! I forgot about Sirius Black being a criminal!”
Good Luck!
March 16th, 2010 at 10:27 pm
i would read the 1st one, the third, fourth and 7th.
March 16th, 2010 at 10:44 pm
each one contains an important turning point that makes the series the best one of the current time
March 16th, 2010 at 11:09 pm
none be a doll and read all

If you’ve seen the Harry Potter movies, then you can skip books one and two, but I suggest you read all of books four, six and seven. Book five has some important parts in it, but you can skip the parts where it drags on about how horrible Professor Umbridge is and how Harry keeps having one bad thing happen after another.
Book six and seven, I think, have the most action going on in them. I’ve even forgotten quite a bit of the last book, there was so much in it! lol!
Happy reading! ^_^

Why would you read the whole series every time?? If you ever have a ? about something that happened just go to Yahoo.answers.!!! My kids always read only the newest novel no matter what series and ask questions between each other, friends, and other sources. Or the back track through the books to find the answer which is more difficult but, possible.

I honestly don’t believe that you can skip any of the books to get the full pleasurable effect the last book can give you. If I had to choose books to skip I would say to skip books 2, 3 and maybe 4. You will still understand the last book pretty well if you skip the first 4 books, but to understand everything you have to read at least book 5 and 6.

There really isn’t any book in the series that you can skip and still understand what’s happening later. J.K. Rowling pays a lot of attention to detail, planting little seeds early in the series, which end up having significance later on. Like in book 1, Snape mentions bezoars and how they cure poisons, and that comes up in book 6. If you skip anything, you’ll spend half the series scratching your head going “What? Where the heck did THAT come from?”
March 17th, 2010 at 1:25 am
i think you can skip the first 3 the since you read them at least 3 times. the 7th one is so exciting you should spend time reading them over and over if you know them really well.

I personally, after the fifth book came out, only read books 3, 4, 5, and so forth to re-read the series. I never bothered with the first two only because, to be honest, they aren’t my favorite books in the world (the first two- the rest of the series is mind-blowing)…. And I understood Deathly Hallows just fine. So, all in all, if you want to re-read the series but don’t want to spend two weeks doing it, I suggest starting with Prizoner of Azkaban, or even Goblet Of Fire. They are all important, don’t get me wrong, but if it comes down to it, you can reffer back to an earlier book.
But that’s just my opinion. Hope you enjoy it!

yes.
March 17th, 2010 at 2:26 am
how do you read the series over again without reading part of the series?
March 17th, 2010 at 3:16 am
No, not really. It’s all equally important. Why not read the series from the start? It will be an adventure.
I would love to do that.
In fact, I am.
And I’m listening to it, too.
There’s no reason to skip over such wonderful stories.

I don’t think it would hurt you if you skipped the first three as long as you keep in mind that
1. Voldemort wanted to kill Harry
2. The spell backfired
3. Harry’s mom’s protection still lingers in his blood
4. Harry stabs the Diary of Tom Riddle with the fang of a basilisk when inside the Chamber of secrets
March 17th, 2010 at 4:15 am
How can you ask such a question? I’ve read the series three times already and enjoyed every book!
March 17th, 2010 at 4:55 am
every summer i usually read the last three, those are my favorite. i’ve read the first four a bunch of times anyway and seen those movies way more than the 5th or 6th. also if you only read the last 3 then get sad after you finish the 7th, you can always read the first four after that…

March 17th, 2010 at 5:53 am
i like all the books. i just came back from the Premiere yesterday. the first 2 are your best bet!but you can do 3 but just know that harry’s godfather sirius came in in the 3rd book
March 17th, 2010 at 6:15 am
if your sure, then i’d say the 2nd and 3rd books, nothing THAT significant happens in those 2 because you will know that harry destroys the horcrux diary and he finds his god father, and i thnk thats really all u need to know
p.s i’d read the first book, cos thats how it all started out ^_^
March 17th, 2010 at 6:50 am
Skip them all and just watch the movies, that’s what I’ve always done

March 17th, 2010 at 7:35 am
you could probably skip the first three book and still get what’s going on in book four till the end of the series, but if i were u i’d read book 3 cause that’s when the series starts getting really good
March 17th, 2010 at 8:08 am
You really still haven’t read the seventh book? The day it cam out I bought it and read it 4 times back to back, and since then I have reread the entire series twice…
Since you haven’t read then in so long (I assume) then you probably should reread them all, it will probably take you a month…
March 17th, 2010 at 8:15 am
You could probably skip the first book and the first 13 or so chapters of Goblet of Fire, unless you like quidditch that much.
You can’t really skip the 2nd book because it has pertinent information about the horcruxes in it.
And why would you want to skip the book where you meet Sirius Black?
March 17th, 2010 at 8:35 am
Sure because you already know the basics of the plot.
March 17th, 2010 at 8:54 am
How dare you ask such a question
